You’ve just finished shooting your project in P2 and would like to take a look at the footage on your laptop or desktop computer.

What do you do?

You go to your P2 Viewer* or P2 Contents  Manager software that you have previously downloaded on your laptop.

Let’s go through the download process of the software first.  In the past Panasonic’s website for P2 software downloads was a jumbled mess.  But now, things have been cleaned up and streamlined a bit.  The link below takes you to the P2 download site.

There are three things you will want to download here:

  • P2 driver software
  •  P2 utility software (P2 Viewer* or Contents Manager for Windows, or Contents Manager for Mac).
  • AVC-INTRA decoder

* Please note P2 Viewer is only available for Windows, so Mac people you will have to use Contents Manager.

Once you have downloaded and installed the software, you’re ready to view your files.  Just plug in your drive containing the footage.

For viewing footage with the Contents Manager software:

  • Go to the Register Tab on the left.
  • Specify your source.  You can do this by drive letter, or by selecting a specific folder.

Your footage should then populate on the area on the right side of the screen.  Double-click on the clip you would like to play.

For viewing footage with the P2 Viewer software:

  • Select Tool from the tool bar and click on “Setting Virtual P2 Cards”
  • Specify your source
  • Finally, right-click on the box above the empty area on the left side of the viewer.  To view files from a hard drive make sure this box is set to “All Virtual P2 Cards”

Your footage should then populate on the area on the left side of the screen.  Double-click on the clip you would like to play.
